How long can I sign up for?
There are three, six and twelve month service terms. Three months is the minimum, and twelve months is the maximum.
What kind of bags can I use?
67 litre blue or clear plastic bags are acceptable. You can purchase these at Extra Foods in Prince Rupert for $7.50/per 40 bags.
What happens to my bags after I use them?
Your plastic bags will be used to repack the sorted materials until they are no longer reusable. They are then recycled.
How do I pay?
Eco-Management accepts either full payment for your service term, or post dated checks for the term of service payable on the first of each month.
The checks can either be left in the mail box on your first pickup day, or mailed to P.O. BOX 433 V8J 3R2.
What if I'm not home on my first day of service?
You can leave your recycling out the night before if it is placed in a garbage can type container clearly marked for recycling.
Eco-Management will not look in garbage cans for recycling if it is not clearly marked.
I only have one pick up date on the first month of service. Do I have to pay for a full month?
No. Your invoice will be adjusted for one pickup in the first month and one pickup in your last month.
What if I will be away for a while during my service term?
If your planning on being away from home on your pick up day, please contact us at 622-8309 or email info@eco-management.ca,
to inform us of your expected missed days. With this step your recycling term will be extended the amount of your missed pickups.
What if I miss a pick up?
If no call or email is made to us, Eco-Management will knock on your door on your pickup day, call the number given at sign up and
leave a message. If no contact can be established, your recycling term will not be extended. However you will be allowed to
have an extra bag on your following pickup day.
Do you recycle appliances?
Yes, Eco-Management does recycle appliances. The cost for appliance removal is $50.00/per appliance.
What if I have extra bags?
If you sort your recycling you can have one bag per item (cardboard, paper, plastic, metal, glass). Or there will be a invoice for $4.00 per unsorted recycling bag
placed in your mailbox. This amount can be paid for on your next pickup day.
What about large cardboard boxes?
Must be cut down to fit inside the blue bags, or be flattened and tied in bundles. Place underneath the blue bag.
Use string or twine to tie bundles, not wire. (Including pizza boxes, with liners and food removed.)
Is glass safe in the recycling bags?
Glass is safe in the blue bags, but must not be broken for safety reasons. Bottles and containers of all colors are accepted.
I already sort my recycling into separate bags/bins. Is this okay?
At Eco-Management we encourage you to sort your recycling. Sorting your recycling enables you to have one bag per recycleable item (cardboard, paper, plastic, metal, glass).
Can I use plastic bins instead of plastic bags?
Yes, plastic bins instead of plastic bags. The contents of your bins will be transfered to plastic bags when picked up, however.
